San fran-- The drive there.

We left at about 4:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon. We stopped in Wells for gas and dinner. We stopped after that because of a funny sound the car seemed to be making- sounded like a power stearing issue, kind of a whine. We took a little break from driving & got back on the road- no more whining. Then came the Sierra's-- They had recently opened up the roads after having a massive snow storm. The roads were dark and icy. We passed a truck who had spun out on black ice and had a good amount of damage on the front end of the vehicle. We took things slow and safe. We had no problems. We struck up a good conversation while going over the donner pass-- anyone NOT know that story... Then I fell asleep. I woke up to some pouring rain in Sacramento. It was still a down pour when we got to San Francisco. We pulled into the parking garage of the apartment building we were staying at ( My mother-in-laws' Brothers place) It was about 4 AM We loaded up & looked for an elevator-- was kind of hard to find. Then we went up to the 18th floor & found the appt. Kristin, my mother-in-law was trying to open the door, they key went into the lock but wouldn't turn. We figured it was from being ot tired, so Jenn ( my sister-in-law) gave it a try. Then from the other side of the door we hear... "You've got the wrong apartment." We all kind of gasped out of surprise & then giggled. The voice sounded like an older man. We then went to the walk out level so Kristin could see the front of the bldg & recognize which one we should be in. We had to walk a few minutes, not too long, keep in mind it's 4:30 AM & we are all stumbling under the weight of pillow's, blankets, luggage, not too mention we were all exhausted- and it was a down pour. We waited in the lobby for a minute making sure we had the right building & a young man- I'd say about mid 20's or so, maybe a little older. Had come down the elevator and asked why we were going camping at this hour in this weather... Uhhhh we aren't. He gave us a wierd look, & left. Once in the apartment it took about 10 minutes & we were all zonked.

This is a picture from my cell phone driving through the Sierra Nevada's. The white stuff is snow piled up on the side of the road. It was about 5 feet high.
