Hockey

Stockton & Trent were out playing street hockey. Trent gave a good slap shot, which Stockton blocked, a little too well. Bad picture, but this is his thigh. He had layers of bruising.
As I was in the house I hear SMACK.. (the puck) then a loud scream followed by silence, then a lot more screaming & Trent trying to tell Stockton to let me see it.  As I make my way outside, I see Trent pulling Stockton's pants down in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Stockton is fighting him & screaming.
WOW, hope the neighbors weren't watching.
Made the kids come in & reminded Trent his 8 years older than his brother.

How do you respond.....

So how do you respond?
I noticed Stockton's face seemed a little off... Upon a closer look, I found out that he had shaved off part of each of his eyebrows.
When I asked him about it, he got nervous, & I thought Maybe Trent had done it-but only because Trent had buzzed his eyebrow a few weeks earlier.
Stockton finally admitted to using daddy's razor to shave his eyebrow. (that's when you get hit with a dose of reality-- good thing that's all he did- Mother & Father of the year, yup, I've had quite a few nominations, but I think this is Nic's first one this year. Ü).
When I asked him why he did it, he said " I want to be like daddy and not have any eyebrows"
uhhhh, errr, ummmm okay.
How do you respond to that? I gave him a hug & thanked him for telling me the truth & told him not to do it again, because now it was a race to see who's grew back faster.

Stockton

For a while now we have been keeping some news about Stockton to ourselves, because we didn't want to worry you over nothing. We have told a few people & they have told a few people, so we figured we can talk about it openly now. About a month or so ago, Nic found a lump on Stocktons neck. You can bet I about crapped my pants when he showed me. Of course he found it on a Sunday, so we were panic stricken until Monday when I took him in. Our Doctor said that Swollen lymph nodes are VERY common in kids. He then gave Stockton a Z-Pack antibiotic to rid him of any infection. & told me to come back in 10 days. So we went back, lymph nodes still the same size. (I would guess it's about the size of a kidney bean) Obviously not caused by an infection. Did some blood work to try & determine Mono, & check CBC. Mono came back negative & CBC came back normal. So he said lets watch it another 2 weeks & then re-check. So being that they (one on each side & the Doctor could feel some under his jaw) were still there, no change in size he scheduled an ultra sound. We had that done on Thursday & got the results today. It ruled out that there wasn't any kind of infection. Which is kind of what we were hoping for. Those are easy to fix. So, the next step is to get a CT scan done. We will be doing that next week.

Stockton Story- Touch, Touch.

Stockton is at such a fun age & is such a cute kids that I could do a blog of "Stocktonisms" all day long. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write up the story, but it's so funny to me.

Back when we were at our Uintah's trip... the drive down.

The 2 older kids had Nintendo DS's to play to make the ride a little easier. Stockton was a little miffed that Trent wouldn't share his. He was watching intently as Trent played. No personal space involved. Trent got tired of having Stockton in his face & telling him how to play.. Please a 4 year old, telling the electronics king of the 12 year old's how to play- Trent wasn't having any of it. Nic & I had both took turns telling Stockton to sit back & not place his arms outside of his car seat area. (Only we told on on a 4 year old level) Ü. Still upset at Trent for not sharing, Nic & I keep hearing him squeal. Not typical 4 year old boy squeal, but banshee squeal. With out even turning around, Nic & I take turns popping off at Trent to be nice to his brother, quick making him squawk. It's not my favorite sound, when traveling in the car, or shopping at the grocery store, or in the waiting room at the doctor's office, or ever, actually. I finally flipped my mirror so I could watch what was going on. We had already threatened Trent with everything but the kitchen sink-- and maybe that as well, it needed a good cleaning. So, with my mirror, I couldn't believe it. Trent was trying his hardest to ignore this demon child and his torture. After a few seconds of watching, I lightly tapped Nic & said, you've got to see this. So when he could catch a glimpse through his mirror he saw, at first we laugh about it. which as you all know, would egg on any 4 year old bored & in need of attention. Then we had to threaten him with everything. However, this child know all, -please, are you really going to stop the car, Uh-huh. & you think you are going to make me take a nap in the tent, sure. No treats, really, well I'd like to see that. No treats camping, would really be a first. He knew we were bluffing and called us on it.

What was going on? Trent had told him not to touch him. Stockton's reply was, but I love you & I just want to touch you. Then proceeded to point his index finger & touch Trent somewhere on his face & each time he made contact he'd say. Touch, Touch.. He was poking Trent in the ear, on the nose, in the eye, on the cheek. Touch, Touch, Touch.

~Sorry, I had to pause and laugh while remembering the sound of his voice & the look of pure annoyance on Trent's face.~

A few things have happened since then that make think to see what is happening, before I flat out blame Trent. Look out Trent, Stockton has begun to hold his own.

At times when Trent is frustrated with me or mad at the world (as teenagers are, about once a week or so) I try to diffuse him by poking at his face & saying touch touch touch. So far so good.

The Joy of Kids

I really wish I could have experienced this first hand, but I will go off Nic recollection.
Every time I think about it, I grin and giggle.
On the way to the babysitter (Kim) the other morning, Nic had himself, Cassidy & Stockton in his truck. Kim only lives about 5 minutes away. On the way, Stockton starts patting his pants pocket & starts talking to it. "I sure hope you are going to be okay in there." Nic asked him who he was talking to. He responded with "My Tato bug" like Duh, how could you not know. Yes, before leaving he had found himself a little potato bug friend & decided to take him to be friends with his friend Logan. When they got there, the bud was no where to be found--
My guess is that it fell in between the seats of Nic's truck.
He was a little bummed, but got over it quickly enough.
As Nic was telling me the story, Stockton chirped in with- I put some grass in my pocket to so he could have something to eat. So We will see what comes out of the dryer filter...
Stockton, such a cutie pie.

Monster under the bed.

I want to thank Stockton for nominating me for mother of the year.

~He had gone the weekend with out any naps & stayed up later than usual, so he was a little sleep deprived. You all know how that can be with a child (or an adult). Nic had made some Mac'n'cheese and Stockton had eaten all of his and he started in on Trents, and then didn't let Trent have any, so we told him to share or nothing-- Well I am sure you guessed that he decided nothing, and was then upset about it. He was crying the naggy cry (the one where you have to try really hard to make it sound real) so I told him to go upstairs and cry in his room until he decided to be happy. So he went upstairs- This was about 8:45- and usually when he has to "go cry in his room" he will fall asleep or get side tracked with his toys & play by himself for a while. I didn't hear any more crying, so I thought he had done one of the above. So 9:30 comes around & I get the other 2 kids upstairs for bed, and as I am going up the stairs, I hear Stockton crying a faint cry. I followed it to my room & couldn't see him, so I asked him where he was. He seemed relieved to hear my voice & started crying even harder about how he was stuck under my bed & daddy had to save him. So I looked under the bed and sure enough, there he was, with puffy eyes. I had Cassidy run downstairs and get Nic. I tried to pull him out, but he started screaming about how daddy needed to save him. Nic came upstairs, at first he lifted the bed, but then realized he couldn't lift and pull him out. So then Trent lifted the bed & Nic got him out. Cassidy and I were watching with sympathy- Poor Stocky. As Nic was reassuring him, he was still crying, taking in big gulps of air. "My HUH HUH daddy HUH HUH HUH save me HUH HUH", big crocodile tears and sobbing so hard he was shaking. Then he went downstairs with daddy while Cassidy, Trent and I went to bed.

... And mother of the year goes to....ME!!!
What mother couldn't love such a cute little boy pretending to be such a cute little dog.

Toss'n'cookies

Stockton has been throwing up here and there. Usually right when he wakes up, be if from a nap or whatever. Last night Nic & I woke up & heard him crying, about 1:00 AM. Usually Stockton finds his way into our room & sleeps with us. His room is a land mine, he's got dinosaurs all over his floor, pirates & cars. You can imagine stepping on any of those in the dark while being 1/2 asleep. So I figured he hit a land mine on his way into our room. So Nic & I both waited for him to come in-- well he didn't. I went in to see why he was crying & the smell hit me at his door. Acidic vomit. He was still laying down- he hasn't mastered how to properly throw up. So lately when he has been throwing up, if he is laying down, he will swallow & re-throw up. So I got into his room, had him sit up, I called for Nic to come & help me. I tried pulling off his shirt with out getting any on him, & was having a heck of a time. Stockton was crying & started yelling "I'm having a little trouble in here" Silly what kids say in that sleepy state. But it really cracked us up- at 1 in the morning.

Stockton

Stockton had a few bad teeth. So Nic & I decided we would go ahead and do sedated dental work. He did good, the Dentist said most kids wake up 1/2 way through & they have to give more medicine. Stockton didn't wake up for about 2 hours after he was done. The rest of the day he was dizzy and didn't feel well. He was on the couch, didn't eat until dinner. Threw up a few times, but it was only water. We took him to a pediatric dentist, Cassidy & Trent went to our family dentist down the hall. When Stockton woke up I took him in to where the other kids were. We were watching Cassidy in the chair and Stockton threw up. Just missing Cassidy's face. I felt bad & offered to clean it up, but the dental assistant said she would have to do it, policy reasons. Bummer..

You may notice, Stockton now has a gap in his front teeth. They were very close together & the dentist was worried if we couldn't floss them, they would get cavities, so he made a little space for us to floss.
You can compare his teeth
Stockton woke up this morning feeling fine. He said his cheeks felt puffy. He still has a purple gum, where they had to put a crown on his tooth.

My advice so parents with small kids who always brush.

DON'T FORGET TO FLOSS.

The majority of my kid's cavities, have been inbetween their teeth.
